BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team dropped an, 81-77 decision at home to Dominican College Monday night. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback in The Den left Bloomfield with an overall record of 9-16 and 7-8 in league action. The regionally ranked Chargers improved to 18-6 overall with an 11-5 mark in conference play.
The CACC Rookie of the Week,
Andres Fulgencio (Teaneck, NJ) led the Bears in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including 3-for-6 from long range as the teams went into intermission knotted up at 37-37. A Fulgencio three-pointer gave the home team a 9-point lead (64-55) with 8:49 left to play in the 2
nd half before Dominican went on a 13-2 run to take a, 68-66 lead.
Josh Morris (Ewing, NJ) and
Wesley Robinson (Burlington, NJ) each chipped in 15 points but Bloomfield couldn't overtake the Chargers down the stretch. Robinson notched his first career double-double snagging a game-high 12 boards.
Tyrek Battle-Holley rounded out the home team's top scorers as he registered 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Next up for the Bears will be two home games to close out the 2021-22 regular season. First Nyack College visits The Den on Wednesday, February 23 for Black History Night. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm with a CACC playoff bid hanging in the balance. Then Caldwell University comes to town on Saturday, February 26 for Senior Day at 3:00 pm.
