BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears volleyball team roared to a, 3-0 sweep of Caldwell University Thursday night in The Den. The high-energy Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win marked Bloomfield's sixth-straight and moved their perfect league record to 5-0. The Cougars fell to 4-9 for the season and 3-4 in conference play after the setback.
The home team wasted little time during the evening match-up taking the first set, 25-20. The Bears followed up with a 25-19 2
nd set before completing the sweep with a 25-22 third set victory.
Esther Dogbe (Irvington, NJ) had her strongest performance of 2022 as she paced the Bloomfield offense with 11 kills and added 2 blocks. Karla Maldanado (Morovis, PR) and
Sophia Wintonick (Colonia, NJ) held the Bears back line as they registered 16 and 12 digs respectively.
Lauryn Hansford (Plainfield, NJ) and
Lily Jackson (Apocka, FL) tossed up 15 and 10 assists respectively and Hansford had a game-high 3 service aces.
Bloomfield, sitting atop the CACC North Division will head on the road for their first South Division challenge on Saturday at Goldey-Beacom. The Lightning will host the Bears in Delaware with a 12:00 pm first serve.
