BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears volleyball team captured their first victory of 2022 in a, 3-1 comeback win over Pace University Saturday afternoon. Bloomfield (1-4) dropped the opening set of the day before roaring back with three-straight to defeat the Pacesetters who fell to 0-5 on the year.
The Bears home opener was a thriller as they dropped the first set, 26-24 to the visitors but then quickly returned the favor in a set 2 win, 26-24. Bloomfield clawed out set 3, 25-23 and sealed the deal with a 25-19 win in set 4 to take the non-conference match.
Desiree Cruz (Humacau, PR) had a big day in her debut in front of the home crowd as she paced the offense with 15 kills. Sophomores,
Lauryn Hansford (Plainfield, NJ) and
Sophia Wintonick (Colonia, NJ) returned to form with solid performances of 18 assists and 13 digs respectively.
The Bears will enjoy the Labor Day Weekend and return to action on Wednesday, September 7
th with their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener against the University of Bridgeport. The Purple Knights, in their first year in the CACC, roll out the welcome mat for a 7:00pm showdown with Bloomfield in their first home action of 2022.
