NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 15, 2024) -- Top-seeded Bloomfield College and third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College were victorious on Friday night during the semifinals of the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) E Sports Super Smash Bros. Championship, held virtually with each team competing on its respective campus.
The Bears and Lightning will now meet in Tuesday night's CACC Super Smash Bros. Championship Final at 9 p.m., hosted by Discord. It will mark the first Super Smash Bros. Championship Final in conference history. The Bears knocked off fourth-seeded Dominican University, 2-0, while the third-seeded Lightning pulled off a 2-0 upset of second-seeded Post University.
Bloomfield won by scores of 9-3 and 9-5, while GBC posted winning totals of 9-7 and 9-8.
ABOUT THE CACC
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its affiliation with NCAA Division II. Conference institutions compete for championships in 18 sports – eight for men, nine for women, and one co-ed. The CACC contains 12 members in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Membership includes Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, the University of Bridgeport, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Dominican University New York, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Post University, Thomas Jefferson University, and Wilmington University.
