BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team held on for a, 70-66 non-conference win over visiting Bowie State University Thursday night in The Den.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears opened up the game on a 6-0 spurt but Bowie State responded with an 11-0 run with 8:18 left in the first quarter. Bloomfield clawed their way back and finished the quarter only down three, 21-18.
- Just over two minutes into the second frame, Ellis nailed one of her six threes of the night to pull the home team even at 23-23. The Bears closed the half outscoring the Bulldogs, 11-4 for a 34-27 advantage heading to the locker rooms.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers from Ellis in the 3rd quarter gave Bloomfield their largest lead at, 51-33. The home squad would go on to put up 24 points in the period and went into the final quarter up, 58-45.
- The Bulldogs took the fight to the Bears in the fourth and came to within, 66-62 off a layup by Ryles prompting a timeout from head coach, Anthony Green. Able netted a layup off a feed from Babbs to increase the Bloomfield lead but Ryles responded with a bucket in the paint of her own to keep the visitors hopes alive. Ellis would sink two key freethrows with 21 seconds remaining to help clinch the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Bloomfield held the advantage in second chance points (13-10) and points off turnovers (17-14).
- Bowie State suffered the defeat despite a 48-36 rebounding advantage and 24-18 edge on points in the paint.
