BLOOMFIELD, NJ/April 10, 2025 - In a season that will be remembered in the years to come, The Bears Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team has remained the undisputed champions after taking on Goldey-Beacom College in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Grand Finals. For the second season in a row they finish the year undefeated and dominant with a record of 16-0.
The Bears captain Vuisaul Hardy, a senior, opened the first set with a close 3 to 2 stock differential victory which would open a path for teammates David Steven Quinde-Maldonado taking four stocks, and Nico McClendo taking two stocks to wrap up the set 9-7.
In the second set, Freshman Elijah Santiago would catch fire eliminating not one, but two players from Goldey-Beacoms lineup before being eliminated. This would give sophomore Harold Pierre and freshman David Maldonado breathing room to clinch the set with a 9-6 victory.
In the final set of the night sophomore Nico McClendon delivered the knockout blow to Goldey-Beacom, single handedly eliminating all three players in one of the most unstoppable performances of the season losing only 2 stocks. His showing would wrap up the series in a commanding 3-0 fashion.
Across the 3 sets Nico McClendon led the team in stocks taken with 11 out of 27 cementing his MVP status in his rookie season since joining the team in the fall. Strong performances were also shown by both freshman David Maldonado and Elijah Santiago with 6 stocks a piece on the day.

The season for the Bears SSBU team isn't ending there. They will take on the Lions of Malloy University on April 14th at 8pm in the semi-finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference in a rematch of the previous semester.
