BLOOMFIELD, NJ: The Deacons rebounded after their one-goal loss to Goldey-Beacom just one day ago with a dominant 4-0 victory over the Nyack College Warriors Tuesday afternoon, breaking a tie with the Warriors for sixth place in the CACC standings.
Senior forward Evans Tageo got the scoring started in the 20'th minute, taking an outstanding ball from
Andy Aguilar and firing it into the back of the net to put the Deacons on the board first. It seemed as though both clubs had settled in after the tally, as the score remained 1-0 as play ended in the first half.
But the Deacons offense exploded with three goals in the second stanza, each by a different scorer.
Edwin Ventura came off the bench to put the Deacons up 2-0 in the 54'th minute, cashing in on a breakaway attempt.
Terry Gibbs put the game away in the 88'th minute with an unassisted goal, giving the Deacons a commanding 3-0 lead. Just two minutes later, a penalty in the box gave the Deacons a chance to add a fourth goal. When the attempt was saved by Nyack keeper Adrian Ibanez, the rebound squirted to the middle of the box, where midfielder
Jason Bryan streaked in to punch it in for the club's fourth score of the day.
The team returns to action on October 31 with their final regular season match against Dowling College. The opening whistle is set for 1:00 PM.
