PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 3, 2009): The men's soccer team was the victim of another one-goal loss Saturday afternoon, as a late goal lifted the Philadelphia University Rams to a 2-1 victory over the Deacons, dropping Coach Falloon's squad to 2-3-1 in CACC play.
Wojciech Sliwinsky opened the scoring for the Rams, notching a goal in the tenth minute to give Philly U. a 1-0 advantage. That's where the score would stand for the next 55 minutes as both defenses settled in, limiting their opposition's scoring chances. Senior forward Evans Tageo drew the Deacons even with an unassisted goal in the 66'th minute, bringing the score to 1-1 with 25 minutes to play.
But Deacons keeper
Steven Alonso's 14 saves would not be enough to keep the Deacons tied, as Svetoczar Gladic but a shot in the back of the net in the 81'st minute to give the Rams a 2-1 lead Bloomfield could not overcome, their overal record falling to 3-7-1 with the loss.
The Deacons return to action on Saturday, October 10 with a home match against conference foe Holy Family University. The opening whistle is set for 3:00 PM.
