Sampson and Daye lead Deacons to sixth straight win

Duo pace BC's offense in 99-83 victory over AIC

BLOOMFIELD, NJ:  The Deacons ran their winning streak to six games Tuesday night, as they out-ran the American International College Yellow Jackets 99-83 in the Deacons' Den.

Senior Chris Sampson had a breakout game for the Deacons in the post, totaling a season-high 22 points and six rebounds and dominating play in the paint against a powerless Yellow Jackets defense.  Junior guard Gage Daye provided the firepower from the perimeter, with 19 of his game-high 32 points coming in the first half as the Deacons lead by a commanding 50-32 margin at the break.

The Yellow Jackets would not go quietly, however, as they clawed their way back into the game in the game's final 20 minutes of play.  But each time they were turned away by the combination of Daye and Sampson, the two standouts not allowing the Yellow Jackets to shrink the deficit to single digits.

Senior Wilson Pilarte put forth another rock-solid performance in the win, totaling 14 points and 8 rebounds, while sophomore Matt Wafula was the fourth Deacon in double-figures with 10 points and four rebounds.  Top-flight facilitator Ahmad Harris dished out a game-high six assists in the win.

The Deacons will return to action on December 29 with a road game against Adelphi University.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
