Lady Deacons sweep Post 3-0

WATERBURY, CONN - The women's volleyball team improved to 9-13 overall and 8-9 in CACC play Friday night, as they swept the season series with the Post University Eagles in decisive fashion, sweeping their North Division rivals in straight sets.

Heading into the match just one game ahead of Post for third place in the North Division, the Lady Deacons stormed out of the gates, cruising in the opening frame to a 25-15 victory.  Coach Valbrun's squad's outstanding play continued in set number two, as Bloomfield limited the Eagles to just ten points, capturing a 25-10 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.  The onslaught continued in set number three, as the Lady Deacons overpowered Post and rolled to a 25-13 victory, taking the match in straight sets to move their lead over the Eagles to two games for the third spot in the North Division standings.

Junior Suzy Zanette led the offensive charge for Bloomfield, tallying 10 kills while serving up four aces in the victory.  Da'Cheray Thomas continued her standout play with seven kills of her own, while Gabriella Betoni totaled 11 digs and 13 assists to solidify both sides of the ball and help secure the victory.

The team returns to action Saturday, October 30 with a home match against CACC foe USP.  The opening whistle is set for 1:00 PM.
