Lady Deacons stumble in 3-0 defeat at Queens

QUEENS, NY - The women's volleyball team fell to 4-7 on the season Tuesday evening, as they came up on the short end of a 3-0 road decision in a non-conference tilt against Queens College.

The Lady Deacons were unable to get their offensive attack going through the early stages of the opening set, dropping the opening frame 25-14.  Coach Valbrun's squad couldn't knot the match at a game apiece in the second set, falling by the same score of 25-14.  The Lady Deacons attempted to get back in the contest by matching the Knights blow for blow in the third game, but Queens was able to outlast the rush, prevailing 25-21 and taking the match three sets to none.

Da'Cheray Thomas was the top offensive performer for the Lady Deacons, posting 10 kills in the loss.  Evelyn Ferreira led the defensive effort, notching eight digs in the setback.

The team returns to action Thursday, with a pivotal road match against CACC rival Dominican College.  The opening whistle is set for 7:00 PM.
