BLOOMFIELD VS. LeMOYNE BOX SCORE
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (October 1, 2011) - Bloomfield's women's volleyball team dropped to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play Saturday afternoon, as they fell to CACC rival Chestnut Hill College and non-conference opponent LeMoyne College in both legs of a home tri-match.
In the opening match of the day, the Lady Deacons took a commanding lead over the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill by taking the first two sets of the match. Junior setter
Allison Hart (Pagosa Springs, Co.) began the match with five consecutive service aces to give Bloomfield a 6-1 lead, allowing the home team to pick up a 25-18 victory in set number one. It was more of the same in the second set, as the Lady Deacons held on in a seesaw battle to take a 25-23 victory and put the Griffins on the brink.
But Chestnut Hill would rally to take a decisive 25-12 victory in the third set to avoid the sweep, and win a nail-biting set of their own with a 25-23 victory in the fourth frame to force a decisive fifth set. With a conference victory in the balance, it was the Griffins who completed the three-set comeback, taking the final stanza 15-5 to earn the 3-2 match victory and leave the Lady Deacons 0-1 on the afternoon.
Bloomfield would earn a similar fate against LeMoyne in the final match of the day, coming up on the short end of a 3-0 decision to move their non-conference record to 1-2 on the season. The Dolphins were able to take the opening set 25-19, and took the following two frames by 25-13, and 25-14 scores to earn the sweep.
