NYACK, N.Y. (October 4, 2011) - Bloomfield's women's volleyball team fell to 4-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play Tuesday night, as they dropped a 3-1 road decision to CACC North Division rival Nyack College. Nyack takes the season series 2-0 with the victory, and improved to 6-9 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
The Lady Deacons fell behind through the first two sets, dropping a hard-fought 25-22 decision in the opening frame and falling 25-11 in set number two. But with their backs against the wall and facing a three-set sweep, the visitors fought back with a 25-21 victory in set number three to extend the match and move to within a win of forcing a decisive fifth frame.
It would prove to be their only triumph of the evening, though, as the Warriors ended the hopes of a Bloomfield comeback with a 25-23 victory in set number four, earning the home team the 3-1 victory and extending the Lady Deacons' losing streak to three consecutive matches.
Sophomore
Da'Cheray Thomas (Newark, N.J.) led the offensive effort for Bloomfield with her highest kill total of the season, posting a game-high 15 in the setback.
Dominic Spivey (Newark, N.J.) and
Chereese Sheen (Queens, N.Y.) each added 11 kills apiece to round out the attack, while four Bloomfield players registered double-figures in digs to pace the defense. Libero
Brandi Bodin (Clara City, MN) led the way with 17 digs, while Thomas notched 13 digs to complete her standout performance.
Daliana Perez (Jersey City, N.J.) totaled 12 digs, while
Allison Hart (Pagosa Springs, Co.) tallied 10 digs and 38 assists.
Bloomfield returns to action Thursday, October 4 with a home match against North Division rival Felician College. Start time for the contest is set for 7:00 PM.
