BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team fell to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in conference play Saturday afternoon, as they dropped a 3-2 (19-25, 14-25, 25-18, 25-22, 6-15) home decision to CACC South Division rival Georgian Court University.
After falling in the first two sets of the contest, the Lady Deacons rallied to force a fifth and deciding set with back-to-back victories to knot the match at 2-2. But the visiting Lions would weather the barrage and regain control of the contest, notching a 15-6 victory in the fifth and deciding frame to drop Bloomfield to three games under .500 in conference play and leave the club still in search of its first victory of the season.
Junior
Deandra Black (East Brunswick, N.J.) led the Lady Deacons with 11 kills in the loss, while rookie
Juliette Monroy (Rahway, N.J.) totaled 10 kills in the setback. Rookie
Ashley Wright (Moreno Valley, Ca.) led the defensive effort with 12 digs in the loss. For Georgian Court,
Jhoan Agosto Rivera (Carolina, P.R.) totaled a game-high 24 kills on the afternoon, while
Francheska Cedres (Carolina, P.R.) totaled a game-high 21 digs.
Bloomfield returns to action Oct. 1, when they travel to take on CACC North Division rival Concordia College. Start time for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
