BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College Bears volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) home thriller to the Wildcats of Wilmington University 3-1 this afternoon. Bloomfield, down two sets to one, mounted a comeback effort that was blocked in the 4th set with Wilmington taking a 32-30 win to claim the conference match. The setback leaves the Bears with a 9-8 overall record and a 6-2 CACC mark while the Wildcats share a 6-2 conference record and improve to 10-11 overall.

Kaitlin DeGiacinto entered the match needing just one dig for the 1,000th of her career and early in the 1st set she achieved the milestone to a thunderous round of applause. The Wildcats pounced on the Bears at the onset opening up with a 6-0 lead and they would go on to take the first set 25-13. Bloomfield clawed their way back into the match, pulling out set number two, 25-23 to draw even at a set apiece. Junior
Diannmarie Rivera (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) closed out the set with a kill off of a serve from sophomore
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, C.A.).
In the 3rd set Wilmington imposed their will on the Bears, outscoring Bloomfield 16-1 down the stretch after being tied 9-9. The Wildcats weren't out of the woods yet however as Bloomfield mounted a comeback in the fourth in an attempt to even up the match. The teams battled point for point thru-out the entire set with long rallies finally going the way of Wilmington in a thrilling 32-30 finish.
DeGiacinto completed her milestone match with 16 digs and added 10 kills while sophomore teammate
Allison Briley notched a game-high 20 kills on the afternoon. For the Bears, freshman libero
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) continued her break-out season recording a game-high 23 digs.
In a busy upcoming week of CACC action, Bloomfield will travel to North Division Concordia College and Caldwell University on Tuesday and Friday respectively. Tuesday's matchup with the Clippers is set for 6:00 pm while the battle with the Cougars will tipoff at 7:00 pm on Friday night. The week culminates with a South Division foe, Goldey-Beacom College, traveling to face the Bears on Homecoming, Saturday, October 18th at 12:00pm.
