Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. –
Nick Davidson (Lumberton, N.J.) led the Bloomfield College men's basketball team in scoring for the second consecutive game but it was not enough as the Bears fell to the Dolphins of LeMoyne College, 84-80 on Sunday Afternoon. The loss dropped Bloomfield to 0-2 on the young season while the Dolphins improved to 1-1 as both teams played on Day 2 of the
Northeast-10 Challenge presented by
Hilton Garden Inn-Albany Medical Center at the College of Saint Rose campus.
After tying his career-high of 26 points on Saturday's season opener, Davidson came back to record 18 points on 4-for-11 shooting from the field including 9-for-10 from free throw line. Bloomfield saw each member of their starting unit score in double-figures as senior
Claude Blue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) shot 50 percent from the field to total 14 points (4-8 FG, 6-7 FT). Sophomores,
Ignacio Diez (Madrid, Spain) and
Rakwan Kelly (Newark, N.J.) recorded 13 and 12 points respectively while junior transfer
Ahmid Williams (Monroe, N.J.) notched 11 points in the setback.
Senior Qwadere Lovell paced the Dolphins offense with 25 points (10-16 FG, 3-5 FT) and sophomore Tanner Hyland added 17 points in the victory.
The Bears enjoyed a perfect first half from the free throw line, going 11-for-11 and also shot a blistering 46.7 percent (14-30 FG) from the field. A Diez layup in the paint with 5:06 to play in the opening period gave Bloomfield their largest lead of the half (31-22) but after a pair of Kelly free throws the Bears took a 41-37 edge into the locker room.
The second half proved to be a bad combination of the Bloomfield offense cooling down (10-28 FG, 35.7%) and the Dolphins finding their stride shooting 57.1 percent (16-28) from the field and 84.6 percent (11-13 FT) from the charity stripe including eight consecutive to seal the game.
The Bears held a 33-29 edge in rebounds as Kelly recorded a game-high nine boards. The Dolphins swatted five shots on the day with Bloomfield failing to record a single block during the contest.
Bloomfield will welcome the confines of home in their next action Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm. The home opener will also be Bloomfield's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action of 2015 with the Eagles of Post University soaring into town for a North Division battle.
