BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Senior foward
Claude Blue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored his 1,000
th career point as a Bear during his team's come-back victory against Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday night at the Joseph West Jones College Center in Wilmington, D.E. Blue entered the match needing 20 points to reach the milestone and finished with a team high 23 that included 8-for-10 shooting from the floor.
Blue scored his 1,000 career point on a bucket in the paint with 4:54 remaining in the game and the Bears battling for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win. He scored Bloomfield's last point of the night on a free throw to give them a 70-68 lead which eventually became the final score as his teammate drew a charging file that negated the Lightning's last bucket at the buzzer.
The senior leads the team in scoring; netting 16.3 points per contest and his 60.6 percent shooting from the field ranks him second in the CACC in that category. Blue also leads the team in blocked shots with 19 and in steals with 25 for the season as those numbers also rank him in the top ten players in league play. Claude is among the nation's top 100 players in six categories including steals per game, blocked shots per game and field goal percentage.
Blue ended the night against Goldey-Beacom with 1,003 total points in his career and will lead the Bears into their next contest against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University. The Northeast 10 opponent will enter the Bloomfield Gym on Thursday, Jan 14 for a 7:00 pm tip off.
