Bloomfield, N.J.- Junior transfer,
Jamie Cook (Elkland, P.A.) blasted a walk-off grand slam homer over the left field fence at Clarks Pond South to cap the Bloomfield College softball team's afternoon sweep of Georgian Court University Sunday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The Bears halted a three-game slide with their second league sweep of the season by the scores of 6-1 in game one and 12-3 (6 innings) in game two and improved to 17-20 overall in 2016 including a 10-12 record in the CACC.

Bloomfield opened game one pumped for the April 9
th rescheduled postponement against the Lions and scored three runs in the first inning.
Mariah Frazier (Port Angeles, W.A.) led off with a bunt to the pitcher for a base hit. Cook followed up with another bunt and reached on an error by the first baseman while Frazier moved to second.
Kirsten Wilson (Beaver Falls, P.A.) singled up the middle to score Frazier and senior
Melissa Yepez (Paramount, Calif.) blasted a single to right field that scored Cook and Wilson after an error on the Lions outfielder.

Georgian Court responded with a single run in the top of the second but the Bloomfield bats stayed red-hot as the home team put up two more runs for a 5-1 advantage. Senior
Veronica Cobos (Torrance, Calif.) tripled to right field and then Cook drew a two-out walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Wilson stepped to the plate and delivered her second single up the middle that scored the two base runners.

Wilson went to work in the circle and shut down the Lions offense the rest of the way allowing just the one run on three hits all day. The Bears ace fanned seven batters while walking just one to pick her 10
th win of the season.Â

In control of the game, Bloomfield sent junior walk-on
S'Miyah Boss to the plate for her first career CACC at-bat. Boss struck out looking but classmates
Paige Lafferty (Liberty Hill, T.X.) who reached on a fielder's choice, and
Aubrey Orr (Gallup, N.M.) who singled up the middle to score Lafferty, helped to tack on the Bears final run of the game.

In the nightcap, the Lions looked for redemption and jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the GCU half of the fourth inning. Bloomfield scored 12 straight runs over the next three at-bats culminating in Cooks grand slam to and secured the six-inning victory.

Cobos was the first to score in the bottom of the fourth after reaching on an error by the second baseman. Senior
Lauren Bueno (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) singled up the middle to load the bases once Lafferty had singled through the left side to move Cobos to second. Daw came in to pinch hit for Cook and belted a single up the middle that scored Cobos and Lafferty. Cook promptly returned to the game to pinch run for Daw just before
Greta Coleman (Indianola, W.A.) laced a single that plated Bueno and tied the game at 3-3.

In the fifth inning the Bears went back to work on offense driving in four runs and knocked out the Lions starting pitcher,
Jessica O'Neil in the process.

In the sixth Bloomfield sealed the deal to their highest offensive output since March 8, 2015 with a five spot against GCU pitching. Wilson led off with another a single up the middle and came around to score a bases-loaded single to the pitcher by Bueno that setup the Cook walk off.

Stephanie Miller (Temecula, Calif.) earned the win in game two, going 5.0 innings scattering five hits and giving up one run (earned) with two walks and two strikeouts.

Cobos finished a great day in the batters box with a double and a triple while going 5-for-7 including a perfect 3-for-3 in game one. Bueno had a perfect 4-for-4 effort in game two while scoring two runs and belting a double. Wilson went 5-for-8 on the afternoon and recorded three runs and three RBI during the sweep.

Bloomfield, in the thick of the CACC playoff hunt, returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Nyack to face the Warriors for a crucial double-dip in New York with game one first pitch set for 2:30 pm.
