NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The field is officially set for the 2017-18 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Championship, following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday afternoon. University of the Sciences and Bloomfield College each earned the No. 1 seed in the South and North Division, respectively.
USciences is the No. 1 overall seed for the tournament due to its 58-50 win over Bloomfield in the squads' regular season meeting back on Jan. 10. The Devils finished with a 17-2 mark in conference play during the regular season, but did trip up on the final day of the league schedule as they fell to Chestnut Hill College 80-77. In fact, CHC was responsible for both of USciences league setbacks during the regular season. The Devils, though, enter this year's tournament as the defending league champions, as they will look to make it two in a row this March.
Bloomfield joined Caldwell University as the North Division Champions of the CACC, as both schools finished with identical 16-3 conference marks. The Bears, however, garnered the division's No. 1 seed after knocking off the Cougars on Saturday (69-62) and then earning the tiebreaker to vault ahead in the seeding.
The tournament tips off with the first round on Tuesday at the site of the highest seeds. Tuesday's four winners will advance to the semifinals next Saturday, followed by the championship final on Sunday. The semis and final will be staged at the Gallagher Center on the Jefferson campus in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Lightning capped its regular season with a satisfying 79-71 win over crosstown-rival Wilmington University on Saturday. In fact, the Lightning concluded regular season play with back-to-back wins over the second and third place teams from the South. G-B knocked off Jefferson (2nd) on Wednesday, followed by this afternoon's win over Wilmington (3rd).
