BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team battled in their first home game of 2023 and enjoyed a, 66-54 victory over the University of New Haven. The Bears improved their overall record to, 2-1 after the non-conference match up while the Chargers dropped to, 1-2 with the setback.

Deavion Ellis season-high 17 points (6-16 FG, 3-7 3PT, 2-2 FT) and season-high 6 rebounds
·
Al Fatir Connor 9 points (3-10 FG, 2-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), 1 assist and 1 steal

Edward Ngene season-highs with 13 rebounds, 8 points (3-7 FG, 2-4 FT) 2 assists and 2 blocks
·
Donovan Crawford 9 points (3-11 FG, 1-4 3PT, 2-2 FT) 6 rebounds, and 1 assist
KEY MOMENTS
· The teams were interlocked in a see-saw battle until Bloomfield pulled ahead by 5 (22-17) on a Connor 3-pointer. The Chargers stormed back with a, 10-5 push that knotted the score at 27 heading into the halftime break.
· The 2nd half opened up with more back-and-forth play but a 3 pointer from Crawford put the Bears in the driver's seat at, 40-33.
·
Marcus Bucknall broke away for a slam dunk that gave Bloomfield an 8-point advantage (49-41) down the stretch and Ngene went up for a flush that helped seal the game at 59-49 with 2:29 on the clock.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
· Bucknall finished the game with 6 points (3-6 FG), 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Zamorian Singleton grabbed 6 rebounds to go along with 6 points (2-3 FG, 2-2 3PT) and an assist.
·
Izaiah Poole came off the bench to add 8 points (2-5 FG and 4-4 FT), 4 rebounds and 4 assists and a steal.
· New Haven narrowly outshot the Bears 36.5 percent (19-52 FG) to 35.4 percent (23-65 FG) in the game. Bloomfield countered from long-range by shooting 39.1 percent (9-23 3PT) to 21.7 percent (5-23 3PT).
· Bloomfield dominated on the glass with a 47-26 edge including 22-7 in offensive rebounds. The teams were even with 15 turnovers each but the Bears had a slight advantage in assists at, 14-13.
