BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The men's basketball team picked up their 2
nd-straight win at home Saturday afternoon when Molloy University came calling. The Bears won a gritty, 91-82 game against the non-conference opponents and moved their overall record to 3-1 on the season. The Lions dropped to 0-5 on the year and still in search of their first victory.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
·
Al Fatir Connor scored a career-high 23 points (8-17 FG, 5-9 3PT, 2-3 FT), 5 assists, 1 block and 1 steal
·
Starrell Hearns recorded a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field which included 5-of-8 from 3-PT range
·
Deavion Ellis had a new season-high, 9 rebounds to go along with 11 points (4-15 FG, 3-10 3PT)
·
Edward Ngene recorded 4 blocks in the game and is now averaging 4.0 blocks per game and ranked #1 in NCAA Div II
KEY MOMENTS
· Conner began the game with back-to-back three-pointers followed by an
Abdallah Elsaleh three-ball and the Bears were out to a 9-2 lead. Lions clawed back with seven-straight to tie the game at 9-9.
· The teams battled back and forth through the middle of the period but Bloomfield edged in front by halftime by a, 45-40 margin.
· Connor began the 2nd half the same way he opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers however Molloy found a way to sustain the attack and eventually knotted the score at 53 all on a deep ball of their own.
· Ellis buried a long-range jumper to put the home team up, 72-66 and the Bears went on to flex their lead with a 12-2 spurt deep into the final period. The Lions would attempt a late charge but freethrows from Hearns down the stretch sealed the win.

· Elsaleh finished the game with 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3PT), 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Zamorian Singleton had a season-high 10 points (5-6 FG), 2 rebounds, 1 steal and an assist.
· Ngene finished the game with 8 points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and 5 rebounds
· Bloomfield outshot the Lions 40.5 percent (15-37 3PT) to 36.4 percent (8-22 3PT) from deep during the game.
· The Bears were strong on the boards with a 41-34 edge including the, 17-10 advantage on the offensive glass. Thanks to the nationally ranked Ngene, the Bears enjoyed a, 6-1 advantage in blocked shots.
