BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team welcomed the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) to The Den Wednesday afternoon and secured a, 94-68 victory over the Firebirds. Bloomfield used a, 52.2 shooting percentage for the game to push their overall record to, 4-1 and are on a current 3-game win streak. UDC dropped below .500 for the season (2-3) after the non-conference match up.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Edward Ngene had a perfect game going 9-for-9 from the field for a new career-high, 22 points. The #1 shot-blocker in the nation also had 7 blocks, 4 rebounds and an assist
·
Deavion Ellis posted a career-high 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-7 3PT), 3 assists, 2 steals and 5 rebounds
·
Starrell Hearns also had a solid day with 16 points (6-7 FG, 3-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), 6 rebounds, 3 assist and 4 steals
KEY MOMENTS
· Ngene started the 1
st half with back-to-back blocks and the UDC offense was held scoreless for the first five minutes as Bloomfield built a 5-0 lead. The Firebirds responded with an 11-5 spurt to take their only lead of the match but Ellis quickly responded with a long-range bucket and the home team never looked back.
· After a Hearns buried another 3-pointer with a little over two minutes on the clock, Bloomfield had a 16-point advantage before taking a 41-24 lead into the halftime break.
· The 2nd half opened and UDC climbed to within 14 points (41-27) however the Bears countered quickly and ballooned their advantage to twenty-seven (82-55) with 4:58 left to play.
· The home team was firing on all cylinders as they enjoyed a balance offensive effort and an emphatic final dunk by
Marcus Bucknall sent The Den into a frenzy and ready for the Thanksgiving Break.

Donovan Crawford barely missed a double-double with 9 points (3-5 FG, 3-5 FT) and 8 rebounds

· The Bears produced a huge advantage off points in the paint with 44-26 over UDC and enjoyed a slight edge in 2

· Bloomfield was strong on the glass with a 44-37 edge including a 33-20 split in defensive rebounds.

· The Bears are back in action Saturday, November 25 (2:00 p.m.) in NYC participating in the annual Harlem Renaissance Classic.
