ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - Bloomfield College men's basketball captured the YES U.S. Virgin Islands Basketball Classic Tournament Championship on Sunday after defeating Virginia State University (VSU), 72-68.
Deavion Ellis was named Tournament MVP after dropping a game-high 25 points in the finals. Ellis averaged 19.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game for the tournament.
The Bears improved their overall record to 7-4 after Sunday's win while the Trojans record evened at 6-6 after the setback.
Al Fatir Connor netted 19 points in the championship final on 7-for-16 shooting from the floor and
Marcus Bucknall came of the bench to chip in 13 points on 16 plus minutes of work.
Bloomfield will return to the mainland to close out the 2023 calendar year with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on December 30
th when they travel to Post University. The Eagles roll out the welcome mat to The Drubner Center for a 3:00 pm contest.
