Lady Deacons close season with 3-1 victory over Goldey-Beacom

Nunnery's pair of goals lifts BC

WILMINGTON, DE:  The women's soccer team closed their 2009 campaign the same way they began it - with a victory.

Midfielder Laura Nunnery netted two goals in the Lady Deacons' final match of the season, propelling Coach Constantino's squad to a 3-1 road victory against Goldey-Beacom College.

The midfielder gave the Lady Deacons a quick 1-0 lead in just the sixth minute of play, when she took a pass from Erika Len and fired it past Goldey's keeper to put Bloomfield on the board.  The score remained in favor of BC through the first 45 minutes of play, the Lady Deacons' defense shutting down the Lightning's attack.

But Nunnery wasn't done putting her stamp on the match, adding her second goal on a breakaway in the 65'th minute, putting the Deacons up comfortably at 2-0.  Marissa Valladares brought the Lightning back into the game in the 70'th minute with a strike from 20 yards out, bringing Goldey-Beacom back to within a goal at 2-1.  But Len provided the dagger in the 78'th minute, when she took a pass from Stacey Jones and score the Lady Deacons' third goal of the match, securing the victory.
