Deacons stay perfect in CACC play with 73-61 victory over Dominican

Three players finish in double figures as Bloomfield earns its ninth victory of the season

ORANGEBURG, NY:  The men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in CACC play Thursday night, prevailing over the Dominican College Chargers for the second time this season in a 73-61 road victory.

Junior guard Gage Daye put forth one of his most complete performances of the season against the Chargers, burning Dominican in nearly every facet of the game. He posted a game-high 27 points, while dishing out a team-high eight assists and pulling down seven rebounds to pace the Deacons' offensive attack.

Daye's all-around performance helped Bloomfield take a 34-28 lead into halftime, with the defense holding the Chargers to a 12-31 shooting performance in the game's first 20 minutes of play.  In the second half Coach Holmes' squad connected on nearly 46% of their field goal attempts, and finished the game shooting over 38% from beyond the arc, as they topped the Chargers by another six points in the second half to notch the double-digit victory.

Ryan Rodrigues provided a major spark off the bench for the Deacons, dropping 15 points and connecting on three of his five three-point attempts in 25 minutes of play.  Wilson Pilarte was the third Deacon to finish in double figures in the win, notching 10 points and connecting on two of his three attempts from three.

The team returns to action January 9 with a matchup against CACC rival Chestnut Hill College.  Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
