Lady Deacons win fourth straight with 3-1 victory over Post

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The women's volleyball team won their fourth consecutive CACC contest Thursday night, knocking off the second-place Post University Eagles in a 3-1 home victory in front of a packed house at the Deacons' Den.

Trailing the Eagles by just a single game in the loss column in the CACC North Division, the Lady Deacons fell behind early in the evening's matchup, dropping the first set 25-16.  But Coach Valbrun's squad quickly rebounded, outlasting Post in a seesaw battle to take a 25-19 victory in set number two and even the match at a game apiece.

The two clubs traded blows throughout the final two sets of the match, neither side trailing by more than five points.  But each time it was the Lady Deacons who prevailed, withstanding each charge from the Eagles and taking the third game 25-17, and the fourth frame 25-21 to take a 3-1 match victory.

"This was our best game of the season, and our best victory of the season," head coach Anthony Valbrun said.  "Everything has really started to come together for us, and the girls are really playing outstanding.  Hopefully we can keep riding this wave as we go through our CACC schedule."

Suzy Zanette continued her outstanding play in the triumph, registering a season-high 20 kills and serving up a pair of aces.  Uerequenia Pereira provided the rest of the offensive firepower, notching 14 kills, while Da'Cheray Thomas posted 9 kills continuing her solid sophomore season.  Brittany Devries led the defensive effort with 23 digs, while Evelyn Ferreira tallied 20 digs in win.

The team returns to action Saturday, October 2 with a road match against CACC rival Philadelphia University.  The opening whistle is set for Noon.
