NYACK, NY
(October 12, 2010) - The women's soccer team played the Nyack College Lady Warriors to an even draw for nearly 70 minutes Tuesday afternoon, but ultimately came up on the short end of a hard-fought 2-1 decision to drop to 2-8-1 on the season. The setback moves the Lady Deacons to 0-8 in CACC play.
Coach Egan's club got on the board in the 17'th minute, when standout defender
Mikie Bradley blasted a shot past Nyack keeper Shannon McNeeley from 35 yards out off a pass from
Stacey Jones to put Bloomfield up one. The lead would last until the 26'th minute, when Nyack's Alisha Smith provided the equalizer off a Susanna Bicknell cross to knot the score at a goal apiece.
The match would remain deadlocked at one through the remainder of the first half, and through nearly 25 minutes of the second frame. But Bicknell assisted Smith again on a tally in the 70'th minute, giving the Lady Warriors a 2-1 advantage and forcing the Lady Deacons to come from behind. Bloomfield notched seven shots over the final 45 minutes of action, but was unable to find the back of the net, as Nyack held on for the tough one-goal victory.
The team returns to action Thursday, October 14 with a non-conference home tilt against Mercy College. The opening whistle is set for 2:00 PM.
