Lady Deacons' four-game winning streak ends in 3-1 loss to Holy Family

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The women's volleyball team fell to 8-9 overall and 7-6 in CACC play Saturday afternoon, as they came up on the short end of a 3-1 decision against Holy Family University in a weekend home tilt.

The Tigers were able to jump out to a 1-0 lead after the opening set, holding the Lady Deacons to 16 points in a 25-16 victory.  Coach Valbrun's squad answered back in the second frame, withstanding a late Holy Family charge to prevail 25-19 and even the match at a game apiece.

The visiting Tigers would respond by taking the next set, holding off the charging Lady Deacons and taking a hard-fought 25-21 outcome to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.  Holy Family thwarted any hopes of a Bloomfield comeback in the fourth and decisive frame, topping the Lady Deacons 25-11 and earning the 3-1 match victory.

Suzy Zanette was the top offensive performer for Bloomfield in the loss, tallying eight kills.  Da'Cheray Thomas posted six kills, while Brittany Devries was the top defender with 17 digs.  Evelyn Ferreira continued her rock-solid play on the defensive side of the ball, posting 10 digs in the setback.

The team returns to action Wednesday, October 20 with a home match against CACC North Division rival Felician College.  The opening whistle is set for 7:00 PM.
