Lady Deacons stumble in 2-0 loss to Georgian Court

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The women's soccer team fell to 2-4-1 on the season Saturday afternoon, as they dropped a tough 2-0 decision to Georgian Court University at Watsessing Park.

A crowd littered with Bloomfield alumni gathered to watch the Lady Deacons take on one of the top teams in the CACC, in hopes of ushering in the college's annual "Deaconfest" with a victory that would bring Coach Egan's squad back into the thick of the CACC playoff race.  The two sides each had quality chances in the opening half, but it was the Lions who broke through in the 29'th minute when Kelly Lyons tapped in a rebound in the box to give Georgian Court a 1-0 advantage.  Bloomfield nearly notched the equalizer on multiple occasions, but couldn't find the back of the net through the rest of the half.

The Lions were able to capitalize on another rebound after a save by Bloomfield keeper Adriana Moreno in the 61'st minute, giving Georgian Court a 2-0 advantage they would not relinquish.  The Lady Deacons fired seven shots in the final 45 minutes of action, but could not break through and get back in the game, unable to get their first CACC victory of the year in comeback fashion.

The team returns to action on Monday, October 4, with a pivotal road contest against CACC rival Dominican College.  The opening whistle is set for 3:30 PM.
