ORANGEBURG, NY - The women's soccer team fell to 2-5-1 Monday afternoon, as they dropped a 7-2 road decision to CACC rival Dominican College. The loss brings the Lady Deacons to 0-5 in CACC play.
Coach Egan's squad stormed out of the gates to take a 1-0 lead in just the third minute of the match, when junior forward
Christine Rutherford finished a pass from
Laura Nunnery for her seventh goal of the season. But the Lady Chargers retaliated with four goals of their own over the rest of the first half, sending Bloomfield into the break trailing 4-1. Bloomfield was able to register 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes, but couldn't cut the three-goal deficit before the break.
The Lady Deacons got back in the game in the 67'th minute, when
Erika Len finished a corner kick from Mikey Bradley to cut Dominican's lead to 4-2. But the Lady Chargers would tally three more goals over the final 23 minutes, sending Bloomfield home with a tough 7-2 setback.
The team returns to action Wednesday, October 6 with a road match against CACC foe Felician College. The opening whistle is set for 3:00 PM.
