BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (October 11, 2011) - Four Bloomfield players totaled at least eight kills in the club's most complete effort of the 2011 season Tuesday night, as the women's volleyball team improved to 6-10 overall and 5-8 in CACC play with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-19) home victory over North Division rival Post University.
It was clear from the beginning of the contest the Lady Deacons were intent on avenging an early-season loss to their conference counterparts, as Bloomfield stormed out to an 11-3 advantage in the opening set. The home team dominated play throughout the first frame, limiting the Eagles to just 12 points and taking a decisive 25-12 victory to grab a 1-0 lead in the match.
Post was able to fight back after the early haymaker, trailing Bloomfield by just a single point at 9-8 through the second set's first 17 points. But a 7-2 run would put the Lady Deacons up 16-10, keeping the Eagles at bay and allowing the home team to grab a 25-20 victory and a commanding 2-0 lead in the contest.
Bloomfield appeared on their way to another lopsided victory in set number three after an 18-9 run to open the frame, but an 8-3 Post run would cut the lead to 21-17 and put the visitors on the verge of forcing a fourth set with a strong comeback effort. It would prove to be the closest Post would come to prolonging the match, however, as the Lady Deacons withstood the charge and took four of the next six points to secure the 25-19 victory and complete the crucial sweep of their divisional rival.
