Dominican tops Lady Deacons 4-2

BOX SCORE

ORANGE, N.J. (October 28, 2011) -
Bloomfield's women's soccer team fell to 2-15 overall and 0-11 in conference play Friday afternoon, as they dropped a 4-2 decision to CACC rival Dominican College at Orange Park.

The Lady Deacons fell behind in the 23rd minute of the match, when Olivia Antonopoulos headed in a corner kick from Jamilyn Snyder to put Dominican up 1-0.  The Chargers would move the lead to 2-0 in the early stages of the second half, when Antonopoulos tallied her second goal of the afternoon on a shot from 30 yards out in the 47th minute.  But the Lady Deacons would fight back with a strike of their own in the 74th minute, as sophomore defender Mikie Bradley (Jackson, N.J.) buried her sixth free-kick of the season to bring Bloomfield to within a goal.

Dominican would answer back with Antonopoulos' third goal of the day in the 78th minute off a pass from Snyder, bringing the advantage back to two goals with 12 minutes to play.  The Lady Deacons again cut the deficit to a single goal just two minutes later, when Christina Vincentini (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) converted a penalty kick opportunity for her first career goal to move the score to 3-2.  But Dominican would add one final tally to thwart the comeback effort, as Snyder notched a goal off an assist from Antonopoulos to conclude the offensive flurry and put the match out of reach for the Lady Deacons.

Bloomfield held a 16-9 advantage in shots on the afternoon, while notching five corner kick opportunities over the 90-minute affair.  Bradley paced the offensive attack with five shots, while Dani Andreas (Jackson, N.J.) notched three shots in the loss.

The Lady Deacons return to action Saturday, October 29 with their final match of the 2011 season, a road contest against CACC rival Concordia College.  Start time for the contest is set for Noon.
