BOX SCORE
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College women's soccer team moved to 0-3-1 and 0-0-1 in conference play Saturday afternoon, as a header from rookie
Taylor Chianese (Cheapachet, R.I.) off a free kick from
Mikie Bradley (Jackson, N.J.) in the 70th minute lifted the Lady Deacons to a 3-3 tie with CACC rival Georgian Court University in a home match at Foley Field.
Chianese opened the day's scoring in just the second minute of the contest, as she slipped behind the Georgian Court back line and finished a feed from fellow rookie
Sammy Bucknell (Acushnet, Mass.) to put Bloomfield up 1-0 on her first career goal. The home team would hold the advantage until the 40th minute of the half, when Georgian Court's Carly LoVerde
(Bayville, N.J.) knocked in a rebound of a save by Lady Deacons keeper
Sashagay Spence (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) to knot the match at a goal apiece heading into the intermission.
The final 45 minutes of play would see each team score twice, with all four goals coming within a 15-minute span during the early stages of the stanza. A fould in the penalty area gave the Lady Deacons a penalty kick opportunity in the 57th minute, which junior
Christina Vincentini (Lacey Township, N.J.) converted to put Bloomfield up 2-1. Georgian Court would counter with a pair of strikes just one minute apart to take a 3-2 lead, however, as
Taylor Mize (Toms River, N.J.) and
Morgan Peacock (Edison, N.J.) netted goals in the 67th and 68th minutes to give the visitors a one goal advantage. But Chianese would rise to the occasion, burying a Bradley free kick into the box in the 70th minute to conclude the offensive flurry and knot the score at three with 20 minutes to play. The sides would play to a draw over the remainder of regulation and two ten-minute overtime periods, handing the Lady Deacons their first tie of the 2013 campaign over an undefeated CACC opponent.
Spence totaled 10 saves in the draw, while Bucknell notched her second assist of the young season. Bradley's assist ran the senior's point total to seven on the season through Bloomfield's first four games, placing her atop the conference in both total points and goals (3).
Bloomfield returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 18, when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Saint Thomas Aquinas College in a midweek road contest. Kickoff time for the match has yet to be announced.
