BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College women's soccer team fell to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play Wednesday night, as they dropped a 2-1 home decision to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Nyack College at Foley Field.
The visiting Warriors took control of the match in the 19th minute of the contest, as
Amanda Halter gave Nyack a 1-0 lead with a goal off a cross from
Julia Losert. Bloomfield would draw even in the 34th minute, as rookie
Alison Galiano (Washington Township, N.J.) notched her first career goal off an assist from
Sammy Bucknell (Acushnet, Mass.) to knot the contest at 1-1.
It would prove to be Nyack that would net the deciding goal of the match in the second half, however, as
Shaina Tomlin finished a cross from Losert in the 68th minute to take a 2-1 advantage. The Lady Deacons would come up empty the rest of the way despite notching five second-half shots, falling to two games under .500 in conference play with the one-goal setback.
Bucknell's assist gives the rookie four on the 2013 season, placing her atop the CACC in the statistic and 12th in the league in total points with six on the year. Senior keeper
Sashagay Spence (St. Andrew, Jamaica) notched five saves in net for the Lady Deacons in the setback.
Bloomfield returns to action Oct. 1, when they travel to take on conference rival Concordia College in a midweek road match. Kickoff time for the contest has yet to be announced.
