BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Senior Jaclyn Kosh (Brick, N.J.) made five saves on a day when she and 7 other seniors were honored before the game, but the Bloomfield College women's soccer team fell to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Goldey-Beacom, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Foley Field. The pregame festivities included seventeen women's soccer alumni coming back to help the Bears recognize Christina Vincentini (Lacey Township, N.J.), Dani Andreas (Jackson, N.J.), Nicole Paparella (Hamilton, N.J.), Justine Ndiba (Roxbury, N.J.), Sheneaka Wright (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), Kelly Stites (Rockaway, N.J.), Ziasia Gordon (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Kosh for their careers with the program.
The loss drops Bloomfield to 1-13 overall and 1-8 in CACC play for the 2013 season, while the Lightning improve to 5-4-1 on the year with a 2-4-1 mark in conference play.
Nicole Curry staked claim on a 1-0 lead for Goldey-Beacom in the 28th minute of the contest when she picked up a pass from Amy Runcimin and sent the ball into the lower rightt side of the net. That lead would stand as the two teams headed off the field for the halftime break. Bloomfield College took that time to acknowledge their alumni who came out for Homecoming and Senior Day by calling Priscilla Isip 08' - Kelli Wiggins 07' - Mikie Bradley 14' - Shawna Reynolds 13' - Daniella Sofianakos 09' - Michelle Giuca 07' - Kristen Webb 09' - Kira Wagar 11' - Tijwana Dunkley 08' - Sara Lucas 11' - Karelys DeLaCruz 09' - Rachel Adamu 05' - Gabriella Dondero 07' - Lauren Kohler 09' - Mimi Cadena 13' - Dayana Moya 14' and Sonia Solano 05' to the field for recognition. Each alumni received a t-shirt as a gift which read, "Graduated a Deacon But I'm a Bear Now."
As the second half began The Lightning doubled up their lead in the opening minute of play as Curry finished off a through ball from Meagan Harvis and put the ball past Kosh. Already having an assist, Harvis would score Goldey-Beacom's third goal at the 83:25 minute mark to seal their win.
Goldey-Beacom held a 8-5 advantage in shots on goal and also grabbed a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Bears will settle in from this weekend's festivities and look to bounce back on Tuesday, October 21st at 7:00 pm when they travel to Rutherford, N.J. to face the Golden Falcons of Felician College.
