RUTHERFORD, NJ - Sophomore
Claude Blue (Brooklyn, NY) scores a career-high 28 points as Bloomfield defeats the Golden Falcons 95-83 tonight in CACC North Division action. Blue led the Deacons offensive attack which saw four players hit double-digit scoring on the night and lift Bloomfield to 13-2 in conference play (15-7 overall). The loss drops Felician to 3-12 in the CACC and 5-17 overall.
The Deacons had an unprecidented offensive showing on the night putting up a season-high 95 points on 64.0% shooting from the field, making half of their 3-point shots (9-18) and netting 88.0% of their freethrows. Bloomfield actually trailed at the half of the hotly contested CACC battle (45-49) due to the strong play of Golden Falcon's forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, NJ) who led all scorers at the break with 14 points and 6 rebounds. The Felician College faithful, who were dressed for the Second Annual Basketball 'Green-Out' in dark green, were on their feet as the Golden Falcons led by 6 points in the closing seconds of the half until Blue soared for a thunderous dunk to close the period and fore shadow what was to come in the next frame. Junior
Marvin Williams (Jersey City, NJ) had 12 points at the break to compliment Blue's 13 point effort and Bloomfield found themselves within striking distance heading to the locker room.
From the inbound of the ball in the 2nd half, the Deacons were focused on a collective precision scoring attack as Williams went to the hoop for a layup and moments later Blue sank two freethrows to knot the game at 49-49. Felician regained the lead but couldn't distance Bloomfield by more than 4 points and once again a Blue dunk would steal the momentum and eventually the contest when he grabbed an offensive rebound and layed it back in to put the Deacons up for good. Bloomfield missed just five shots in the 2nd half (18-for-23) and one freethrow (11-for-12) and the 3-time defending CACC Champions secured their tenth victory in eleven games.
Williams finished the game with 19 points while sophomore
Clarence White (Bronx, NY) came off the bench to drop 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field. Senior
Dondre Whitmore (Trenton, NJ) added 11 points going 3-for-4 from downtown rounding out Bloomfield's double-figure point producers and senior
Kevin Udo (West Orange, NJ) had a game-high 8 rebounds.
