POST UNABLE TO HOLD OFF DEACONS 72-68 VICTORY IN CACC ACTION

Box Score
WATERBURY, CT - The Bloomfield College men's basketball team went on the road to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division rival, Post University and pulled out a 72-68 victory after trailing at the half tonight at the Drubner Center. With the win Bloomfield posts their 11th win out of 12 conference games and sit alone atop the North Division with a 15-2 conference record (17-7 overall). The Eagles fall to 9-8 in CACC contests and a 9-15 mark overall.

The atmoshpere inside the Drubner Center was electric as the Eagles celebrated thier 'Senior Night' honoring the men's basketball team's 9 seniors in front of the home crowd and Bloomfield found themselves in an early 5-0 deficit to start the contest. The Deacons would settle in and tie the score at 7-7 on two freethrows from senior Kevin Udo (West Paterson, NJ). The teams would trade baskets back and forth trying to capture the momentum swing of the game and it seemed to tilt in the Eagles favor when junior AJ Davis (Inglewood, CA) soared in for a thunderous dunk that brought the crowd to their feet and had the Drubner faithful believing this could be their night. Post closed out the half with an 8-1 run that sent the Deacons to the locker room down 34-37.

Senior Mike Williams (Ewing, NJ) and sophomore Claude Blue (Brooklyn, NY) netted 8 points each to lead the Bloomfield offense at the break. Udo closed the first half with 4 points and just 2 boards but would play key role in the Deacons second half efforts. For the Eagles, Harris finished the opening period with 6 points and 4 assists to compliment senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, NY) and Stephen Perry Jr. (Westampton, NJ) 7 points apiece.

For the third time out-of-the last four CACC matchups, Bloomfield found themselves trailing at the half but for the handful of Deacon supporters that made the trip across state lines, the fact that the Deacons are riding a five game win streak against conference opponents gave them confidence in their team's 2nd half comeback chances. Both squads would trade buckets in the beginning of the second stanza with Bloomfield finally drawing even at 43-43 on a layup and subsequent freethrow by junior Matt Hall (Brooklyn, NY) only to watch senior Devin Willis (Seattle, WA) come down the floor and drain a 3-pointer, putting Post back on top 46-43. The Deacons would orchestrate a 14-2 run to claim the largest advantage of the contest (57-48) which saw senior Dondre Whitmore (Trenton, NJ) account for half of Bloomfield's points during the stretch (7).
The Eagles would claw their way back into the game re-taking the lead at 62-61 with 2:13 left to play but could hold the Deacons back no longer as sophomore Clarence White (Bronx, NY) snagged a key offensive rebound and put back that saw Bloomfield seize command of the lead and subsequent victory.

White finished the game with 7 points and 2 steals while Williams dropped 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting from the field on the night. Whitmore came up big for the Deacons in the second half with 12 of his 15 total points coming when Bloomfield needed them most and game-high scorer  Blue ended up with a 17 point, 9 rebound performance. The difference maker on the boards for the Deacons was Udo who racked up a game-high 16 rebounds for the game with 14 of them in the second frame.
