UDO POWERS BLOOMFIELD PAST THE LIGHTNING 68-57 IN CACC ACTION

WILMINGTON, DE - Senior Kevin Udo (West Orange, NJ) powered the Deacons with a strong double-double performance over the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College 68-57 today in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The center finished the contest with game-highs in points (20) and rebounds (18) as the win moves Bloomfield to 14-7 overall on the season and 12-2 in CACC battles while the Lightning fall to 9-12 overall and a 7-8 conference record.

Udo put his stamp on the contest early with a thunderous dunk one minute into the game and opened up his scoring in the first half which saw him net 9 points on 4-for-7 shooting in the first frame. Kevin also grabbed 6 rebounds in the half matched by sophomore Claude Blue (Brooklyn, NY) with 6 boards and the Deacons held a 22-14 advantage of the glass as the score flip-flopped with Bloomfield leading by as many as 8 (18-10) in the period but trailed by 5   (31-36) heading into the lockeroom at the break. Guard Donte McGill (Newark, DE) and forward Derrick Archie (Wilmington, DE) fueled the Lightning's offensive efforts in the first half with 9 and 7 points respectively.

Blue and Udo would combine for 25 points in the second half mounting Bloomfield's comeback strike against the Lightning. Udo went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in the frame and Blue sank back-to-bak layups that put the Deacons on top for good at the 14:21 minute mark. Goldey-Beacom seemed powerless in their attempts to reclaim the lead with the Bloomfield advantage growing to as much as 12 in the final half before the eventual 68-57 outcome.

Blue finished the contest with a strong double-double, 18 points 10 rebounds performance to compliment Udo's season-highs of 20 points and 18 rebounds. For Goldey-Beacom, Archie finished up with 10 points and 11 rebounds while McGill had a team-high 17 point effort. Bloomfield held the Lightning to just 30.0% shooting from the field while netting 46.0% of their own shots for the game.

The Deacons have won three straight CACC matchups and now set their sites on crosstown rival Felician College as the get set to face-off on Tuesday, February 11th in Lodi, NJ. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm and you can see the game LIVE by CLICKING HERE
