Box Score NEWARK, NJ - The Deacons gave up 28 hits combined in two games against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Wilmington University today as the Wildcats improve to 23-4-1 on the season and 12-2 in conference play. The setback drops Bloomfield's record to 6-18-0 overall and 5-9 in CACC action.
Game 1 saw junior
Lucas Junger (Waretown, NJ) take to the mound for 6 innings surrendering 8 runs on 12 hits. Junger (2-3) struck out just 1 on the day and gave up a home run to Mike Annone (Wilmington, DE) before handing over the game to relievers
David Martinez (Staten Island, NY) and
Mark Reyes (Bronx, NY). Each of the Deacon relievers gave up 4 additional runs with Reyes retiring 3 batters by way of strike outs. Annone added another homer in the top of the 9th inning, going 3-for-5 in game 1 and drove five runs across the plate. Wilmington ace, Jamie Treml (Newark, DE) scattered 3 hits in 6 innings on the mound, fanning 6 batters while securing his sixth win of the year.
GAME 2 BOX SCOREIn Game 2 the Deacon bats came alive, posting 15 hits on the board to the Wildcats' 9 however the hits didn't translate into runs as Bloomfield sent the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 9th but could not capitalize. Junior
Jose Toribio (West New York, NJ) received the nod in the second game, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits and walking 6 before he was relieved in the 4th inning. Junior
Ray Lang (Middlesex, NJ) lead the offensive spark for the Deacons going 3-for-4 in the game and driving in a run. Freshman lead-off hitter
PJ Cardone (North Bergen, NJ) chipped in 2 RBI on a 2-for-5 game at the plate.
