BOX SCORE

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (December 18, 2011) -
Three players reached double-figures for Bloomfield's men's basketball team Sunday afternoon, as the Deacons won their fifth-straight contest in a 66-61 victory over non-conference opponent The College of Saint Rose.  The win moves Bloomfield to 8-5 overall, and 2-0 in the Adelphi University Holiday Tournament.

The Deacons opened the contest with a 25-10 spurt over the first 11 minutes of the afternoon, but the Golden Knights were able to weather the early storm and climb back into the contest.  Saint Rose was able to cut the lead to single digits, with Bloomfield holding a slim 32-29 lead heading into the intermission.

The Golden Knights would continue the momentum into the second half, overtaking the Deacons and grabbing a 39-38 lead with 16:17 to play.  The sides would trade blows the rest of the way, with neither team leading by more than four points until the final minutes of the contest.  With the score tied at 52 with 4:26 to play, Bloomfield would close out the game in decisive fashion, outscoring Saint Rose 14-9 the rest of the way to secure their fifth consecutive victory.

Sophomore guard Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) tallied a team-high 17 points in the win, converting three of his five three-point attempts and shooting 5-9 from the field.  Rookie Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) posted his second-straight standout performance, totaling 13 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists, while Stacey Upshaw-Goree (Lindenwold, N.J.) tallied 10 points in a solid effort off the bench.

Bloomfield returns to action Friday, December 30 with a home contest against non-conference opponent Saint Anslem College.  Tip-off for the contest is set for 3:00 PM.
