WILMINGTON, De. - Four players reached double-figures in scoring to help guide Bloomfield to its 18th victory of the season Saturday afternoon, as the men's basketball team improved to 18-6 overall and 12-2 in conference play with a 70-52 road victory over CACC South Division rival Goldey Beacom College.
The potent Deacons attack hit on all cylinders in the contest, as Bloomfield shot 56% from the field and 4-7 from beyond the arc in the opening half to take a commanding 38-27 lead into the intermission. It would prove to be a deficit the Lightning could not overcome, as the Deacons held Goldy Beacom to just 34% shooting over the final 20 minutes of play to move to ten games over .500 in conference play on the 2011-2012 season.
Sophomore guard
Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) led Bloomfield with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, while fellow sophomore
Kevin Udo (West Orange, N.J.) posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.) continued his solid play with 12 points in the victory, while senior point guard
Ahmad Harris (Linden, N.J.) finished just shy of a triple-double with eight points, 10 rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
Bloomfield returns to action Tuesday, February 7 when they host CACC North Division rival Felician College. Tip-off for the contest is set for 8:00 PM.
