Chesler leads Deacons to split against Dominican

GAME ONE BOX SCORE

GAME TWO BOX SCORE

MONTCLAIR, N.J. -
Senior southpaw Josh Chesler (Cave Creek, Az.) went the distance to pick up his second victory of the season in complete-game fashion Saturday afternoon, as the Bloomfield College baseball team moved to 7-29 overall and 5-13 in CACC play with a 2-1 home victory over conference rival Dominican College at Yogi Berra Stadium.

After dropping the opener, Chesler took to the mound looking to post his second strong start of the week after going six innings and not allowing an earned run against Molloy College Monday night.  The Deacons staked the lefty to a 2-0 lead early in the contest, notching a runs in the second and third innings respectively.  Rookie catcher David Rivera (Bay Shore, N.Y.) got Bloomfield on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the second, and junior outfielder Paul Chong (Rutherford, N.J.) pushed the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single of his own an inning later.  It would prove to be all Chesler would need, as the senior yielded just two hits and an unearned run in his finest performance of the season.  The lefty would strike out three while walking just one Dominican hitter, earning the club a split of the two-game series against the Chargers.  The Deacons totaled seven hits in the win, with Felipe Medrano (Santiago, D.R.) going 2-for-3 in the victory.

Bloomfield returns to action Wednesday, May 1, when they travel to take on Post University in their final CACC doubleheader of the 2013 season.  First pitch for the opener is scheduled for Noon.
