DEACONS SAVE SPLIT AGAINST FELICIAN IN CACC DOUBLE HEADER ACTION

NEWARK, NJ - Sophomore Kyle Murzyn (Glassboro, NJ) stepped on the mound for the Deacons in the 9th inning of game 2 and picked up a save preserving the 7-5 victory over visiting Felician College (11-10, 3-1) this afternoon. The win earned Bloomfield (3-11, 3-3) a split in the day's CACC action after dropping game one, 8-1 against the Golden Falcons. 

Game 1 saw Felician put up a 6-run 5th inning to take command (6-1) and knock starting pitcher, Francesco Scudiero (Brooklyn, NY) out of the game after taking a comebacker off the leg just prior to recording the third out. The Golden Falcons would tack on 2 insurance runs in the top of the ninth off of senior reliever, David Martinez (Staten Island, NY) to secure their third conference win of the season.
Junior Shadi Azar scored the Deacons lone run in the bottom of the second inning.

GAME 2 BOX SCORE 

Game 2 featured junior Lucas Junger (Waretown, NJ) on the mound at the start allowing just three runs across six and two-thirds innings and striking out two. Justin Eclavea (South San Francisco, CA) took over from their with the score even at 3-3 following a RBI single by freshman David Rivera (Bay Shore, NY) in the bottom of the 6th. Eclavea would surrender 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning but the Deacons were poised for a comeback, answering with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Murzyn entered in the 9th to close out the win and earn Bloomfield the split on the day.

Bloomfield is scheduled to play Queens College tomorrow on the road in a double header, non-conference match up. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm with game 2 scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
