Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

NEWARK, N.J. -
Bloomfield's baseball team improved to 9-9 overall and 4-0 in CACC play Tuesday afternoon, as they swept a home doubleheader against CACC rival Post University by scores of 9-2 and 6-3.  The victories move the Deacons to 5-1 in their last six contests.

In the opener, senior southpaw Eric Kamp (Warwick, N.Y.) took a no-hitter in to the eighth inning, allowing just two earned runs over eight brilliant innings of work to pick up the victory.  After an infield single by Mike Monaco (Avenel, N.J.) gave Bloomfield a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, the Deacons broke the game open with eight runs in the sixth and seven innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, rookie second baseman Kevin Caraballo (North Bergen, N.J.) highlighted a three-run inning with an RBI single to break the game open, giving Kamp all the insurance he would need and pushing the Bloomfield lead to 4-0.  The scoring barrage would continue in the bottom of the seventh, as the club sent nine men to the plate and tallied five runs to put the contest out of reach.  Caraballo would strike again in the frame, smacking a two-RBI single to cap his 2-4 day at the plate.  Sophomore David Martinez (Staten Island, N.Y.) came on to work a scoreless ninth, giving the Deacons the victory in the day's opener.  Jonattan Fernandez (Woodland Park, N.J.) and Emilio Fernandez (Woodland Park, N.J.) each scored two runs in the victory, with Emilio going 2-4 in the contest.

In Game Two, rookie righty Francesco Scudiero (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went eight innings in the day's second quality start for Bloomfield, surrendering three earned runs on five hits to pick up the victory.  The Deacons fell behind in the early going, as a two-run fourth inning by Post put the Eagles up a pair midway through the contest.  Post's third run would follow in the top of the fifth, putting Bloomfield behind 3-0 with four trips to the plate remaining.  But the Deacons would rally with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to knot the score at three, capped by a two-out RBI double by senior designated hitter Jason Luzzi (Belleville, N.J.) to tie the game.  Junior outfielder #Michael Judd, Jr.# (Flanders, N.J.) gave Bloomfield the lead for good in the following inning, notching an RBI single to put the Deacons up 4-3.  Caraballo capped his banner day with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, capping a 3-4 game with his fourth RBI of the doubleheader.  Senior lefty John Vilichka (Port Reading, N.J.) came on to work a scoreless ninth, picking up his second save of the season.

Bloomfield returns to action Saturday, March 24 when they welcome CACC rival Wilmington University for a conference doubleheader.  First-pitch for the opener is scheduled for Noon.
